how many players did liverpool use in there dominence to man utd , like phil brown said his and my hull city play m an utd next sunday and could field 1 to 4 different football teams . for me liverpool 84 every time
I know I'm biased but the game has moved on too much in 25 years for this to be a serious question.
The speed and precision of the modern game is such that even though the '84 Liverpool team was exceptional, they would be over-run by any of the top teams of today, even this year's Liverpool team.
The European Cup was easier to win then, as was the league by a dominant team. Not to dismiss that Liverpool side which was awesome. I'd hate to be a Liverpool fan brought up on that diet of exquisite football, having now to get by on the meagre rations served up by Sr Benitez. More Manuel from Fawlty Towers though he was from Barcelona not Madrid.
Anyway I'm sure that United will put this argument to bed next week.
A better debate would have been to compare this United team with that of '99
